Outside Vendors
The University of Illinois system can be exposed to risk when using contractors, consultants, service providers, or vendors to provide goods or services. Policy requires "outside vendors" to maintain current liability insurance and other insurance as necessary to reasonably protect the system's financial interests. The insurance each outside vendor carries must be in amounts deemed adequate by the system.
Details of these requirements are provided in Section 6.1.1 Determine Minimum Insurance Requirements for Vendors of Business and Finance Policies and Procedures. In most instances the system must receive a Certificate of Insurance before commencement of any work or scheduled event.
